IP67 Micro Switch Selection Guide: DMS05–DMS11
28 August 2026 | NY Circuit Team
A micro switch IP67 configuration is not selected by the IP code alone. IP67 tells you about protection against dust and temporary water immersion; it does not confirm the right electrical rating, actuator geometry, terminal arrangement or cable exit for your equipment.
If you are sourcing a waterproof micro switch for an appliance, vehicle, outdoor unit or compact control assembly, use this guide to narrow the DMS05–DMS11 range before requesting samples or a quotation.
What IP67 Means — and What It Does Not
In IEC IP terminology, the first digit 6 means the enclosure is dust-tight. The second digit 7 means protection against the effects of temporary immersion in water under the applicable test conditions. Every DMS05–DMS11 model listed here carries an IEC IP67 rating.
That protection is valuable in moisture-prone equipment, but it is not a blanket promise for every wet environment. IP67 by itself does not establish suitability for continuous submersion, high-pressure or high-temperature washdown, chemical cleaners, oils, salt exposure, or a finished assembly with an unsealed connector or cable entry.
Choose the IP67 switch body first, then make sure the cable, connector, mounting direction and surrounding enclosure preserve that protection in the finished product.
Start With the Electrical Load
AC and DC ratings are not interchangeable. Start with the circuit voltage, current and load type, then use the table below as a fast shortlist. Inductive loads, lamp or motor inrush, duty cycle and ambient temperature can all change the appropriate choice.
| Model | Selection snapshot |
|---|---|
| DMS07 | 16(4)A at 250VAC · −40°C to +85°C Higher-current AC switching where the 16A option is required. |
| DMS05 | 10(3)A at 250VAC · −40°C to +105°C Sealed 10A-class AC control within its listed temperature range. |
| DMS06 | 10(3)A at 250VAC · −40°C to +125°C A 10A-class application with the highest listed temperature limit in this group. |
| DMS08 | 1A at 12/24/36VDC · −40°C to +85°C Low-voltage DC control and signal circuits. |
| DMS09 | 1A at 12/24/36VDC · −40°C to +85°C Low-voltage DC circuits that need a wire-lead option. |
| DMS11 | 0.1A at 12VDC · −40°C to +85°C The lowest listed electrical contact load for micro-signal switching. |
The table is a decision aid, not a substitute for the full rated-value line on the exact product page. DMS05, DMS06 and DMS07 each list additional AC or DC ratings; use the complete specification for the selected configuration rather than selecting on headline current alone.
For motors, solenoids, relays, lamps, capacitive inputs or other loads with inrush or inductive effects, include the actual load type and switching frequency with your inquiry. Those details matter as much as nominal current.
Check Temperature, Endurance and Test Requirements
All six models list a −40°C lower operating limit, but the upper limit is model-specific: DMS05 is listed to +105°C, DMS06 to +125°C, and DMS07, DMS08, DMS09 and DMS11 to +85°C. If heat exposure is decisive, DMS06 is the first model to review.
The published specifications also list vibration testing at 55Hz, 1.5mm amplitude for two hours, 1,000,000 mechanical operations and 100,000 electrical operations across this group. Withstanding-voltage values differ by model, so verify the product page and the exact configuration when your validation plan has a defined standard.
Match the Actuator to the Mechanism
A correct contact rating is not enough if the mechanism cannot actuate the switch reliably. The DMS waterproof range has model-specific clamping-rod and lever options, including configurations for direct actuation and moving mechanisms. Availability varies by model; do not assume every lever is available on every DMS switch.
Send the following information for a useful actuator recommendation:
- The direction from which the moving part approaches the switch
- Available travel and permitted overtravel
- The required lever or rod shape, if known
- Mounting position and clearance around the actuator
- A photo, drawing or reference part number
An application photo is often more useful than a short written description because it lets us compare the actuator path and mounting geometry against the selection table for the exact model.
Select Terminals and Wire Leads as Part of the System
The terminal arrangement is part of the environmental design. An IP67 switch body cannot protect the finished equipment if water enters through an unsuitable connector, damaged cable insulation, an unsealed cable exit or a connector positioned where water can collect.
The model selection tables show configuration-dependent solder, 110-style and PCB terminal choices. DMS09 also lists a wire-lead version. Specify the wire length, conductor colours, connector or pin-out requirement, cable exit direction and any customer drawing when you request a wire-lead configuration.
Optional gold-plated terminal material should be discussed for low-current circuits where the contact load is small. Confirm the exact option against the selected model and configuration.
Is This an IP67 Limit Switch?
An IP67 micro switch can be the switching element in a compact IP67 limit switch arrangement, but the two are not automatically the same product. A complete limit-switch assembly includes the actuator, mounting bracket, housing, cable exit, connector and environmental exposure.
If a lever is detecting a door, panel or travel end point, assess the complete arrangement. Describe the finished system as IP67 only when that assembled system—not just the switch body—has the required protection level.
Confirm Documentation by Exact Model
Approval requirements should be checked before the part is released for production. The current product pages list CQC and CB for DMS01, UL and ENEC for DMS02, and UL (file E303918) for DMS06. Documentation for DMS03, DMS05, DMS07, DMS08, DMS09 and DMS11, as well as the scope of any approval for a specific actuator, terminal or wire-lead configuration, should be confirmed against the exact part number.
Specification Checklist Before Requesting a Quote
- Rated voltage, current, load type, inrush and switching frequency
- Whether the circuit is AC or DC
- Ambient temperature and exposure to water, dust, oil or cleaning media
- Actuation direction, travel, operating geometry and lever or rod requirement
- Terminal requirement or wire-lead details, including length and connector
- Whether a gold-plated configuration is needed for the contact load
- Target-market approval and document requirements
- Sample quantity, production quantity, packaging and labelling requirements
Request a Confirmed DMS Configuration
Send your application details, drawing or reference part number and we will review the suitable DMS model, actuator and termination combination. Sample availability, lead time and applicable documentation are set out in the quotation for the exact configuration.
